Focusing on Western Europe and the United States since the late Fifties, the conference aims to broaden existing research agendas by comparing experiences of poverty in Western affluent societies and assess their political significance in their respective national contexts. Our call for papers is directed at historians as well as scholars from cognate disciplines whose work on the experience of poverty comprises historical dimensions.
The conference will take place at the Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History (IfZ) in Munich on June 15/16 2023. It will be conducted in English. Organizers: Professor Andreas Wirsching, Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History (IfZ) and Professor Bernhard Rieger, University of Leiden.
Applicants should send an abstract (max. 300 words) and a CV (max. 2 pages) to both organizers by email: b.rieger@hum.leidenuniv.nl and wirsching@ifz-muenchen.de by April 8, 2022.
Details regarding the conference and application can be found in the full Call for Papers.
