To meet the target of reducing greenhouse gases in shipping by 40% by 2030, the IMO has created the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI), which will be mandatory for ships of 400 GT and above from 2023. This index maps the savings achieved through various ship-side measures such as limiting main engine power or redesigning the propeller. Limiting engine power has the greatest impact on reducing emissions!
