In addition to the existing DNV certifi cation, the COBRA battery system has reached another milestone with type approval by the classifi cation society RINA. ”We are extremely pleased with the RINA type approval and the renewed confi rmation from a renowned classifi cation society that our proven COBRA product meets all safety requirements,“ says Godehard Gauf, Managing Director of Lehmann Marine.
COBRA enjoys a high and constantly growing demand in the maritime market – mainly due to its compact, scalable design and its safe LFP technology. LFP (”Lithium Ferro Phosphate“) is a safer and more environmentally friendly alternative to the cobalt-based cell technologies used to date. This cell chemistry rules out the risk of fi re, for example in the event of a short circuit or overheating. Another advantage is the fact that cobalt is not used as a raw material, which is viewed very critically from an environmental and socio-political point of view. Added to this is the high proportion of recycling, as this battery cell is almost completely recyclable.
The COBRA battery system meets the highest safety standards and also offers the advantages of a compact design and free scalability. And the system is also attractively priced, as it is freely scalable from a few kWh to several MWh due to the modular design – a COBRA battery rack can be equipped with up to eight battery modules and offers a capacity of 94 kWh per rack.
Lehmann Marine is convinced of the increasingly important contribution of emission-free battery systems to clean, green shipping and has already developed other innovative, environmentally friendly energy solutions with the „Made in Germany“ seal of approval for the maritime sector.
