• Tennis stars hit 444 aces at the Hamburg European Open – HCOB donates EUR 117 per ace
• Donation to children and young people for sports and physical activity projects

Following the conclusion of the Hamburg European Open, Germany’s largest tennis tournament, Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) is handing over a donation of more than EUR 50,000 to “Hamburger Abendblatt hilft e.V.” association. The money raised during the "Aces for a Good Cause" campaign at the tournament will be used by the association specifically to promote sport and physical activity for children and young people from low-income families.

For every ace served at the 117th edition of the tournament at Hamburg`s Rothenbaum, HCOB donates EUR 117. The women hit 142 direct points on serve, the men 302, making a total of 444 aces, so EUR 51,948 will be handed over to the “Hamburger Abendblatt hilft e.V.” association.

Every tennis player is happy about an ace and a point won – at this year’s Hamburg European Open, the joy of seeing the ever-growing donation amount came on top of it. The "HCOB Speedometer", which measured the speed of the players’ serves, also became a symbol of the bank’s charitable campaign. The fastest men’s serve, by Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, was measured at 225 km/h. The top speed in the women’s competition was 188 km/h, served by tournament winner Arantxa Rus and Ella Seidel from Hamburg.
