Artificial intelligence (AI) remains a dominant trend in intralogistics, shaping developments in a wide range of products and driving automation, efficiency, and digital transformation throughout the industry. That’s why AI has been designated one of the three key themes of LogiMAT 2025. No fewer than four of the fifteen Expert Forums taking place over the event’s three days deal explicitly with the opportunities, risks, and use cases of AI, highlighting its role in the technological innovations paving the way toward the intralogistics of tomorrow. Information technology offers the most traditional applications of AI algorithms and neural networks. Warehouse management systems (WMS) equipped with AI algorithms benefit from today’s lightning-fast processing speeds and massive storage capacities, performing calculations at breakneck speed, identifying patterns, and delivering reliable results in the blink of an eye. AI draws on this power to unlock a broad spectrum of use cases for analyzing, delivering, processing, and visualizing data and optimizing intralogistics processes. “The WMS Compact Market Report 2024 published by Fraunhofer IML finds that a third of WMS now work with AI support,” explains Exhibition Director Michael Ruchty from Munich-based event organizer EUROEXPO Messe- und Kongress-GmbH. “The latest applications, features, and system modules presented by software industry exhibitors in Hall 4 at LogiMAT demonstrate the latest AI-driven innovations while reflecting the current product development trends in the industry. AI is also being used in new products in almost every other industry segment to further automate, simplify, improve, and accelerate processes.”
In Hall 4 of the Messe Stuttgart convention center, dedicated to software, Reply Deutschland (Hall 4, Booth 4B52) presents the AI platform GaliLEA, whose bold ambition is to give companies smart, simple access to all their stored knowledge. GaliLEA achieves this by orchestrating the interaction between various AI agents. The Dashboarder lets users query customized dashboards in natural language, then displays them in the desired format. The Insights Agent analyzes historical and real-time data, then provides recommendations for avoiding patterns that led to errors in the past. Smart Search lets users enter search queries in natural language, then responds by generating tables based on WMS data leveraged by an AI agent. PSI (Hall 4, Booth 4D41) is exhibiting PSIwms AI, its WMS-integrated AI platform whose visualization feature and digital twin can analyze intralogistics processes to reduce picking distances by more than 30%, for example. SEP Logistik (Hall 4, Booth 4D53) is on the same page with Relag, a software solution designed to manage and optimize a company’s entire internal material flow, from the moment goods arrive until they leave the warehouse again. One feature its developers are especially proud of is the digital twin, which uses 3D visualization to display real-time stock movements and analyze warehouse capacities, yielding better visibility, fewer errors, and significantly streamlined processes. S&P, the software subsidiary of Element Logic (Hall 4, Booth 4C41), is coming to Stuttgart with the latest generation of its SuPCIS-L8 platform. The scalable solution relies on AI-based WMS strategies and cloud-based solutions to streamline intralogistics processes, automate IT processes, and reduce picking distances. S&P achieves this with a modular approach that allows the WMS to continually adapt to the customer’s specific needs and grow with the complexity of the user’s requirements. The cloud-based solutions offered by S&P also reflect the trend in software in which cloud customers effectively outsource their cybersecurity to software providers.
Web-based forklift control
Coglas (Hall 4, Booth 4D03) is presenting the special new cloud-based features of its Coglas Web WMS. In addition to simplified and accelerated shipping processes for top-selling e-commerce products, the current WMS version allows narrow-aisle stackers to be controlled directly through the cloud via the browser. The forklifts get their driving commands with the precise storage coordinates directly from the Web WMS. For stock putaway and retrieval operations, drivers simply launch the process from the forklift terminal. The forklift then automatically moves to the desired shelf. This is intended to speed up the warehouse processes and virtually eliminate errors. The Austrian start-up S2data is presenting a new AI feature for efficient route and rate planning at its joint stand with Transporeon (Hall 4, Booth 4F67). The tool uses AI to analyze all real-time data about load, route, rates and transport type in real time, including smart route planning that distinguishes between full truck load (FTL) and less than truck load (LTL) shipments. “It not only saves time and money by finding the most efficient transports, it also reduces the workload. Our employees no longer need to check all this data manually, leaving them more time for what’s really important,” explains Stefan Kremsner, CEO and co-founder of S2data.
Leoquantum (Hall 4, Booth 4G05) is presenting myleo/dsc, a dock and yard management software for the exchange of trailers, containers, and swap bodies that also offers AI-supported process optimization. The application marks another trend in AI-based software development: the integration of AI methods and processes for improved demand forecasting. The cloud software uses real-time data to simplify site logistics as well as delivery and transport management in a user-centric process-as-a-service solution that connects producers, suppliers, warehouses, service providers, and sites in a single integrated supply chain network. “This lets our customers use both human and material resources more effectively and efficiently,” remarks Christian Piehler, a senior executive at Leoquantum. ICS Group (Hall 4, Booth 4C21) is also showcasing the latest applications for its AI-powered cloud platform Stradivari. One top highlight of the platform is its AI-based machine vision, which uses fixed industrial scanners or cameras to reliably capture barcodes on both inbound and outbound unit load devices and push them immediately to upstream systems – fully autonomously and for several processes simultaneously. The latest version of Stradivari includes an option to integrate a transport control system for managing both indoor and outdoor site traffic, and a real-time locating system (RTLS) that tracks the precise location of unit load devices and transport equipment. The interaction of both modules also enables fully automated transport with driverless industrial trucks and mobile robots via the VDA 5050 interface. TUP (Hall 4, Booth 4A29) will be showcasing the latest applications of its warehouse management platform, designed to seamlessly integrate automation technology – from automated guided vehicles to automated small parts warehouses and conveyor systems – for a range of shipping channels. The WMS also works in cloud-based, local, and hybrid environments and is compatible with leading hosting providers.
AI-based automated inventory and real-time visibility
In addition to the innovate new features in the WMS segment, AI is also used in hardware control, machine vision and robotics, where the focus is overwhelmingly on performance. Nomagic, for example, is exhibiting AI solutions for improving robot-based picking (Hall 1 Gallery, Booth 1GA57).
The fully integrated industrial robot solution justPick, to be presented in a live demo, is a plug-and-play system with the ability to recognize and retrieve articles in container-to-container picking using AI-based machine vision and process control. Element Logic, the world’s first AutoStore integrator, is pursuing the same principle with the eOperator robotic picking solution. The system’s AI-supported, self-learning processes enable fully automated, robot-based piece picking with a design tailored specifically for picking and placing products from AutoStore ports. Sereact (Hall 5, Booth 5C13) is unveiling Sereact Lens – its AI monitoring platform for automated inventory, article documentation, and quality control – in a live demonstration at LogiMAT 2025. The AI is designed to provide full visibility of the condition and attributes of all stored products in real time, eliminating errors caused by human intervention. The AI software works in combination with a camera, automatically scanning containers and comparing the captured data in real time with the inventories in the WMS. The entire system can be up and running in key areas such as picking stations within an hour, according to the manufacturer.
Eikona Logistics (Hall 4, Booth 4D53) is presenting Print2EDI, an AI solution for optimizing order management. The AI reads the entire content of any document, including handwritten notes, organizes it, and automatically transfers it in real time in the desired format to the designated system. Customers can be connected directly to the solution and transfer the necessary data directly into the system. The Dortmund startup Logistikbude (East Entrance, Booth EO59F) is presenting a similar idea at LogiMAT in cooperation with the DB Schenker subsidiary Bitergo featuring the AI-based processing of WMS-generated data. The latest feature of their software solution can read PDF documents and process their content using AI. Users simply upload the documents, and the feature automatically extracts the relevant information. Logistikbude aims to fully automate manual processes and the entire system for managing unit load devices.
Debut of AI-supported exoskeleton
AI offers a completely different kind of support for manual load handling, and Ergonomische Assistenzsysteme (Hall 7, Booth D71) has developed the EASE exoskeleton for this very purpose. The prototype will celebrate its premiere at LogiMAT 2025. The exoskeleton, which users simply wear like a light hiking backpack, provides active support in lifting and carrying loads thanks to motorized cables running along the arms. The support is lightning fast, thanks to AI-based intention recognition with integrated sensors and AI-driven data processing that lets the system recognize in real time how much support is needed and adapt to the user’s movements. An IoT interface enables data processing from next-gen manual workstations.
