Servomotors are used wherever high-precision drives are required. They enable the exact control of angular positions, speed and acceleration and are therefore used in particular in industrial automation, for example in the control of axes in CNC machines, robots and conveyor belts, but also in production or the automotive industry. Reliable and robust connection solutions are required here to supply motors with energy and withstand the demanding industrial environments.
Mechanically robust and globally available
LAPP already has connection and control cables as well as servo assemblies that are specifically suitable for use on servo motors. With the new, rotatable EPIC® M23 Power angle socket, the world market leader is now launching a connector for direct connection to the servo motor, including signal transmission, especially for harsh environments where electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is required, mechanically robust and available globally.
The rotatable and angled M23 motor connector has a Quickflex quick-locking system that makes it easy for anyone to connect to the mating part. Locking takes place after just one eighth of a turn and can be plugged in with connectors of the market standard. The EPIC® M23P A3 Quickflex features the new and innovative Clean Design from LAPP and achieves protection class IP 68 when plugged in, making it particularly easy to clean. The rotatable outlet on the motor allows an adjustable, defined outlet angle and therefore offers maximum flexibility when connecting.
Voltages of up to 1,000 volts or installation heights of up to 5,000 m possible
Another special feature: the innovative design of the M23 motor connector allows voltages of up to 1,000 volts or can be used at altitudes of up to 5,000 metres. Its metal housing made of die-cast zinc gives it particular stability. The reinforced wall thickness makes it mechanically more robust and insensitive to shock and vibrations – even with constant load changes. This makes the product particularly reliable for users. Its shorter housing is particularly interesting for robot applications where every millimetre counts, while the installation space for assembly remains the same. The connector can also be used with the coloured marking rings of the EPIC® M23P series. This colour coding of the LAPP connectors can be used to identify different axes or as a CI colour element for motor manufacturers.
EPIC® M23P A3 Quickflex gives a good foretaste of the new generation of connectors at LAPP. The connection specialist is improving the usability and design of all connectors and will score points in future with more efficient production and optimised development cycles.
