HARTING has developed the Han-Modular® Domino USB-C module, into which existing connections of the widely deployed format can be inserted, as in the monitoring of machines and systems. The key advantage here: the Domino module features a vibration-proof USB-C interface. The solution requires much less space than other stable connectors for image data transfer (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI).
Assembly is plain and simple: On the male side, the USB-C cable must be inserted into a retaining element that is snapped onto the Domino Cube. On the female side, the USB-C cable is placed in a gender changer. The bracket is spring-mounted, permanently pushing the interface slightly forwards, ensuring that the connection to the male side remains stable.
The first Han-Modular® Domino modules were launched on the markets three years ago. Given that they are only half the size of the standard Han-Modular® modules, space and weight savings are guaranteed. The Han-Modular® Domino Gigabit module, for example, which will be available shortly, is half the size of a standard Gigabit module with eight contacts, thereby enabling hybrid transmission with two different Domino modules in the same installation space.
The Han-Modular® Domino USB-C module is deployed for high-speed data transmission for video streaming, camera surveillance and monitoring in mechanical engineering scenarios. The next series extension with a Domino Gigabit and a Domino Megabit module will once again optimise vibration-proof data transmission in railway applications, thereby "halving" the standard module size. This entails lower space and materials requirements, as well as weight savings in Ethernet transmission, thereby promoting sustainability.
The Gigabit Cubes enable high data rates up to Cat. 6A performance, while the Megabit Cubes are designed and optimised for MVB bus systems and Cat. 5 Data transmission. The fact that the megabit cubes are already designed to be the first railway-compatible interface suitable for data transmission with Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) represents a special highlight here.
