Arvato Systems Joins Factory-X

  • Arvato Systems becomes an associated partner in the Factory-X project
  • Factory-X ensures the establishment of a digital infrastructure for the standardized and secure exchange of product and production data

Factory-X is a member of the Manufacturing-X project family and focuses specifically on mechanical and plant engineering, an industry of great importance to the German economy. The goal of the initiative, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), is to create a data environment that enables the secure and efficient exchange of data along the entire vertical production and supply chain within the industry.

As part of the German government’s initiative to digitalize the manufacturing industry, a digital infrastructure is to be created by June 2026 that will enable the standardized and secure exchange of data between machines, production facilities and factories.
The intention is to create an ecosystem that will benefit companies in all sectors: The exchange of data is intended to improve processes, reduce costs, continuously optimize products and services, and enable new business models.

The topic of data consistency is of particular importance for the realization of comprehensive access, from which both large companies and medium-sized companies should benefit.

Factory-X will implement a data sovereign exchange according to European principles. Companies should have equal and transparent access to the data that is exchanged in the data ecosystem. Access rights can be determined on a granular basis to ensure the sovereign handling of company data.

Dr. Oliver Becker, Vice President responsible for the manufacturing industry at Arvato Systems, explains: "We are proud to be part of this innovative project that will shape the future of industry. The initiative will enable companies to collect, use and share their sensitive corporate data in a self-determined way. A major key to the competitiveness and resilience of the industry."

As an associated partner, Arvato Systems is one of a total of 57 partners, including 47 joint partners and 10 associated partners from industry, research, and associations in the Factory-X joint project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and is a pioneering project for the industry.
